Family Legacy Planning

From success to succession.

Family Legacy Planning is the discipline of preparing your family \u2014 not just your estate. We coordinate assets, business, succession, family conversations and the practical preparation that protects what you have built.

Overview

Wealth alone is not a legacy.

Estates are settled by lawyers. Tax is managed by accountants. But the family conversation — who gets what, who runs what, who decides what, and how to keep everyone together — is rarely facilitated by anyone.

That is the work of Legacy Planning. It is the human, organisational, and strategic layer that sits above the legal and financial. Done well, it is the most important work a family will ever do.

Where We Help

Practical, considered support.

Asset Mapping

The verified register every legacy plan begins with.

Business Succession

Founder transitions, family-business handovers and exit preparation.

Family Meetings

Facilitated conversations that align generations before crisis forces them.

Estate Coordination

Working in lockstep with your lawyer and accountant — never duplicating, always coordinating.

Legacy Preservation

Recorded oral histories, written legacy letters and family archives.

Ongoing Concierge

Annual reviews, updates and a single point of contact when life changes.

The four foundations

Document. A complete family asset register, business map and personal inventory.

Protect. Wills, powers of attorney, advance care directives and insurance reviewed and aligned.

Transition. Business succession, ownership transfer, family meetings and the next-generation plan.

Preserve. Family history, recorded interviews, values, governance and the legacy that outlives money.

A coordinated team

We work alongside your existing lawyer, accountant and financial adviser — providing the organising layer they rarely have time to deliver. Where you do not have those advisers, we coordinate trusted introductions.

By appointment only

Our practice is intentionally small. We work with around twenty families per year, in confidence, at the pace each family needs.

Common Questions

Answers to the questions families ask first.

How is this different from estate planning?

Estate planning is the legal layer — wills, trusts, powers of attorney. Family Legacy Planning is the organisational and strategic layer above it: making sure the documents reflect a coordinated family plan, that the family understands and accepts it, and that everything is actually findable when it is needed.

Do you work with families outside the major cities?

Yes. We work nationally across Australia and travel to clients. Most engagements include at least one on-site visit.

Is this only for the very wealthy?

Most of our families have $1M–$20M in net assets across property, business and investments. The complexity — not the dollar figure — is what matters.
